Vegas bound in one week and one day...concerns have started to settle in about that very first experience at the tables. There's a $125 No Limit tournament at our hotel the night we arrive, but I'm a little nervous about just diving in like that. One of my great weaknesses in poker is my tendency to play passively when I'm up against big raisers, and I fear that I'm going to face much more aggression than I'm used to out there. This is of course completely unfair -
I want to be the aggressor. Couple this wussiness with the jitters of playing at higher stakes, and the stage fright of being at a real table for only the second time in my life...well, there's definite potential for great disaster. And after Tilt settles in, it's all over. Perhaps I'm better off nursing a free drink or two at a small stakes limit game that first day, just to get my chips wet. Conquer my fears, then head to war.
