notes from
the MUCK . . .

How does your garden grow? With muck, muck and more muck! I spent much of today finishing the final muck box and then shifting muck from one box to the next. The first box, which the Big Lad is enthusiastically pointing out, has been rotting down for two years now and once we’d removed the top quarter of unrotted material, we found we’d hit the pay dirt.

"I'm sorry, did you say re-raise?"

Vegas bound in one week and one day...concerns have started to settle in about that very first experience at the tables. There's a $125 No Limit tournament at our hotel the night we arrive, but I'm a little nervous about just diving in like that. One of my great weaknesses in poker is my tendency to play passively when I'm up against big raisers, and I fear that I'm going to face much more aggression than I'm used to out there. This is of course completely unfair - I want to be the aggressor. Couple this wussiness with the jitters of playing at higher stakes, and the stage fright of being at a real table for only the second time in my life...well, there's definite potential for great disaster. And after Tilt settles in, it's all over. Perhaps I'm better off nursing a free drink or two at a small stakes limit game that first day, just to get my chips wet. Conquer my fears, then head to war.
