notes from
the MUCK . . .

How does your garden grow? With muck, muck and more muck! I spent much of today finishing the final muck box and then shifting muck from one box to the next. The first box, which the Big Lad is enthusiastically pointing out, has been rotting down for two years now and once we’d removed the top quarter of unrotted material, we found we’d hit the pay dirt.

Why Papa Google, WHY???

So, I thought of something we could do here. For sometime now I have been bewildered by why we have the CC function on email. It just seems to be a longer line for the "To" line, sending a copy of an email to various people. Why not just have a longer "To" line, or make it cover 2 lines?? I get why we need the BCC; BLIND carbon copy; because you may not wish to broadcast all the recipients addresses to each other, but why do we need the CC thingy?? People often say, I'm just sending an email about it now; I'll CC you on it; WHY NOT JUST PUT ME IN THE TO LINE?? The person in the To line can see you've sent it to me; is it a way of establishing some kind of hierarchy, the peeps in the to line are the main players, the poor souls relegated to cc status are on the outside looking in; relegated to the status of peeping toms.

I'm not a very social person, so i didn't really bother to ask anyone about this. It's also pretty boring and mundane; always looking out for my street cred in the urban jungle of Putney, I needed a place of confidentiality to voice my query. So I decided to ask Google, and then thought that may be a good feature to have here; every week we would feature a question which we wanted google to answer, and the answer papa google gave us. The only criteria should be that it is a question you genuinely don't know the answer to. Any answer provided by papa Google should be on the first page.

We also want to know if Papa Google failed you, share your pain and provide a forum for an eventual answer. Sadly, this is how we begin; WHY Papa Google, WHY??? The damn thing couldn't answer; I put in "email CC Why" and couldn't get anything. I couldn't be bothered to do more searches.

Thankfully, I know that one of the throngs of our many readers will be able to compensate for Papa Google's inadequacies and let me know.

Yours in anticipation,
