notes from
the MUCK . . .

How does your garden grow? With muck, muck and more muck! I spent much of today finishing the final muck box and then shifting muck from one box to the next. The first box, which the Big Lad is enthusiastically pointing out, has been rotting down for two years now and once we’d removed the top quarter of unrotted material, we found we’d hit the pay dirt.

Which of These Things Just Doesn't Belong Here?

Washington Post headline today:

I'm so glad to see our government extending a helping hand with more tax breaks, because nobody's had a tougher go of it this year than hurricane victims, soldiers in Iraq, and affluent investors.

Oh, and for anybody worried about the Disneyfication of the Gulf Coast, worry no more:
Bowing to pressure from Rep. Frank R. Wolf (R-Va.) and other social conservatives, GOP leaders exempted casinos, country clubs, hot tub facilities, liquor stores, massage parlors, golf courses, racetracks and tanning salons from the tax breaks. . .
No word on whether colored bead manufacturers will benefit from the tax cuts, but if I owned stock, I'd be selling.

Christ, I hate Republicans.
