notes from
the MUCK . . .

How does your garden grow? With muck, muck and more muck! I spent much of today finishing the final muck box and then shifting muck from one box to the next. The first box, which the Big Lad is enthusiastically pointing out, has been rotting down for two years now and once we’d removed the top quarter of unrotted material, we found we’d hit the pay dirt.

Poor Little Guy

Thankfully, the old man Cheney shot in the face last weekend seems to have recovered from his shooting and subsequent "cardiac event," and is on his way home from the hospital today. Here's what Harry Whittington had to say to reporters outside the hospital:
"My family and I are deeply sorry for all that Vice President Cheney and his family have had to go through this week[.]"
Geez Louise, Cheney and his family have had a really rough go of it. First, he had to drink a beer and shoot that guy, which totally let the goose or whatever get away. Then, he had to go back to the Armstrong Ranch for dinner and cocktails. After that, he had to have his Secret Service detail tell local law enforcement that he wouldn't be available until tomorrow. Meanwhile, he had to metabolize all that alcohol overnight.

But the ordeal still wasn't over: The next day, Cheney had to go to the hospital to visit the dude he shot, and we all know how aggravating that can be. Then, he had to arrange for the owner of the ranch to report the incident and pretend it was all her idea in the first place. But worst of all, he had to go on TV four days later and answer questions from a friendly interviewer about the whole thing. Can you imagine? The indignity! Turns out, shooting an old man in the face is a total pain in the ass, and will fuck up your whole weekend!

The next time a public official shoots one of senior citizens, I hope we will all remember everything Cheney has had to go through this week and just cut the guy some slack.
