notes from
the MUCK . . .

How does your garden grow? With muck, muck and more muck! I spent much of today finishing the final muck box and then shifting muck from one box to the next. The first box, which the Big Lad is enthusiastically pointing out, has been rotting down for two years now and once we’d removed the top quarter of unrotted material, we found we’d hit the pay dirt.

Lost 3.2

Since I can't think of anything else to post, I'll talk about Lost. What is there to talk about, though?

For starters, I enjoyed the episode. There was nothing dramatically revelatory about it, but isn't that par for the course with this show? Matthew once told me that the writers had planned out 6 seasons worth of story before beginning production. Given what we've seen in the past, it seems reasonable to assume that this show will continue to dish out answers at a drip-drop pace until it ends in 2010. Assuming it doesn't get cancelled first.

What we did learn (or think we learned):
-Benry Gale has lived on the island his entire life
-Sun did the nasty with baldy
-baldy is dead
-The Others are apparently digging for something, or building something
-Sun was a bratty child
-Benry offers to take Jack home if he cooperates

So, yeah, not a whole lot. There are some interesting theories regarding the episode, though:
-The Others all have the virus, but aren't sick because of the island's healing powers. They need Jack to help find the antidote so they can all leave (but didn't the line "why would we stay?" seem to indicate The Others want to be on the islans?)
-Sun killed her lover (as foreshadowed by her pushing the glass ballerina off the shelf)
-The Others do not know that Desmond is on the island (since they are so shocked about the sailboat)

Overall a solid, if typical, episode. And there was that ridiculous kiss, if you're into that sort of thing. From the looks of it, next week will see the return of the other characters, including those who could have died in the explosion, as well as another appearance of the polar bears (or is it the monster?)

You guys like this better or worse than last week's premiere?
