notes from
the MUCK . . .

How does your garden grow? With muck, muck and more muck! I spent much of today finishing the final muck box and then shifting muck from one box to the next. The first box, which the Big Lad is enthusiastically pointing out, has been rotting down for two years now and once we’d removed the top quarter of unrotted material, we found we’d hit the pay dirt.

New New Slang

I never wanted to like that song New Slang by The Shins because I first heard of it when Natalie Portman burbled to Zack Graff or whatever that it would change his life in that Garden State movie, and that's just not cool. But then I couldn't stop listening to it and I had to admit that it was just about the catchiest goddamned pop song I'd ever heard. It even earned the coveted closing credits spot on our home movie last year and got 5 stars on the iPod. (Though, contra Natalie Portman, it did not change my life. No song not by C+C Music Factory has ever or will ever change my life.)

Anywho (as Ben would say), The Shins have a new album out and it's pretty good and there's a song on it that's every bit as delicious as New Slang and here it is. Enjoy.
