notes from
the MUCK . . .

How does your garden grow? With muck, muck and more muck! I spent much of today finishing the final muck box and then shifting muck from one box to the next. The first box, which the Big Lad is enthusiastically pointing out, has been rotting down for two years now and once we’d removed the top quarter of unrotted material, we found we’d hit the pay dirt.

Famous Person

Apparently this ad actually ran on the Washington Pose online edition this morning (see the actual screenshot here):

Of course, the hilarity is that the McCain campaign forgot to substitute the famous person's actual name in the attribution for this alleged quote. Apparently it was supposed to be Peggy Noonan, who technically qualifies, I suppose.

But the larger point here is: Wasn't it just a few weeks ago that the McCain campaign was slamming Obama for being too "celebrity?" Now they are running ads declaring Palin to be "the star?"

One of the things that makes me most uncomfortable about the McCain campaign is how poorly they hide their jealousy. McCain hated that Obama had gotten more famous that he was, so he went out and tried to get himself an even bigger star. It's pathetic and more than a little bit embarrassing to see McCain go so quickly from belittling Obama to imitating him.
