notes from
the MUCK . . .

How does your garden grow? With muck, muck and more muck! I spent much of today finishing the final muck box and then shifting muck from one box to the next. The first box, which the Big Lad is enthusiastically pointing out, has been rotting down for two years now and once we’d removed the top quarter of unrotted material, we found we’d hit the pay dirt.

"I've Got To Live With This"

Though I'm an avid supporter of Detoit's basketball team, I never really got into watching the NFL and so never really had anything bar a passing interest in the Detroit Lions. Right about now, I'm fairly thankful for that.

Imagine that. A whole season of getting beat. I'm fairly used to being in teams that aren't successful but I wonder what something like this does to the ego of a professional athlete.

It made me think about this boxer who recently retired after 300 fights. He lost 256 of them. Jesus. For me, these are the kind of stories that need to be told, those who strove with every ounce of their being to reach a level so high that they could be paid to do a sport they loved and ended up going down in history for being a bench mark in crapness.
