notes from
the MUCK . . .

How does your garden grow? With muck, muck and more muck! I spent much of today finishing the final muck box and then shifting muck from one box to the next. The first box, which the Big Lad is enthusiastically pointing out, has been rotting down for two years now and once we’d removed the top quarter of unrotted material, we found we’d hit the pay dirt.

Give Please a Chance

Here's a little story about how John Lennon was supposedly paranoid about being attacked. At least that's the conclusion drawn by the author of the article, based on a newly discovered memo Lennon wrote to his assistant shortly before his murder. To me, it just seems like normal concern about unlocked doors - this was 1980 New York, after all.

The more interesting part of the note, for no reason I can articulate, precedes the section highlighted by Radar. It reads:

Arrange for potted flowers (small) each day this week to be sent to Yoko each morning (today) also] - make sure it says from Daddy and Sean (you usually don't tell her who sends them!)

Who is this assistant who usually doesn't tell Yoko Ono who sent her flowers? Particularly when those flowers came from her hubby John Lennon? Or do the flowers normally come from fans and the assistant chooses not to bother her with details like that? In any case, I'd love to see a movie or play about this person, a la Tom Stoppard.

Also, does John come off like a little bit of an asshole with all that underlining?
