Alright, folks. I'm running out of steam with this documentary. Thank you to all of you who have made donations and helped out. Your support only makes it more frustrating that I have hit a brick wall.
Does anyone have any ideas for fundraising? I've never done this before and it's damn draining. I want to spend all my time planning the movie, but instead I spend it stressing about finding money so that I'm not just planning in vain.
Furthermore, is it just me or does no one ever return calls and emails anymore (Matt, because of your amazing contribution, you are excused...so this doesn't apply to you). Seriously, though, even when I'm just calling to ask simple questions, I run into road block after road block, and I swear 90% of my communication efforts go un-returned. I've sent emails and made calls about the film to countless anti-death penalty organizations, prisons, documentary filmmakers, friends, industry folks, and production companies. Usually I get no response, but when I do it's usually like "I can't help you. Good luck."
I expected this to be difficult, but I honestly thought I would encounter a lot more enthusiasm from some of these people.
Alright, that's my rant. Whatever. Obviously a lot of people ARE enthusiastic about it (we've raised about $1,700) so I shouldn't complain. I'm just dejected because things aren't moving as quickly as I need them to.
So what's it going to be? Car washes? Bake sale?
How do I do this?
